Anti-panic (EN 179 / EN 1125) |
In buildings which accommodate large numbers of people it is important that, in an emergency, people can leave the building quickly and safely via an escape door. In buildings which are open to the public it is even a legal requirement to install escape doors.
An escape door function is often requested in combination with fire-resistant and/or sound-insulating features. Do you want to your door to function as an escape door as well? Depending on the standard, the escape door is fitted with an anti-panic bar or handle.
Anti-panic bar
In areas in which people are not familiar with the escape plan (for example discotheques) an anti-panic bar is obligatory in accordance with EN 1125. The door is then fitted with a horizontal control bar which opens the door when pressed lightly.
If people are familiar with the escape plan (for example in offices), a door handle is sufficient in most cases in accordance with EN 179.
